Originally Answered: Air Biman Bangladesh Airline?
Biman is bogged down with massive over population of its staffs who are strongly unionised. The problem has been compounded by the appointment of its Managing Directors always coming from the Bangladesh Air Force, instead of professionals running the show. The militant union members made Biman hostage to their whims.
The Golden Handshake (GHS) policy of Neutral Non-party Caretaker Government who ruled Bangladesh January-2007 till December 2008 backfired when the aggrieved (retrenched) staffs file court cases and government (Biman) lost and now have to take back all these worthless staffs back who were parted-off with hefty cash during the GHS.
I have flown Biman many times as well as PIA, JAL, Iran Air, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, British Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Dragonair, PIA, Indian Airlines and the China Eastern Airlines (CEA). I would say that except the last one CEA, our Biman is not at all competitive in terms of the price they charge and services they offer. Moreover, Biman Ground Crews as well as Cabin Crews are not at all 'professionals' and they act is if it is really their "own-home-in-the-air". And now their slogan of 'Once Biman always Biman' is like 'Once Biman never Biman if you have the choice'

About the kind of food that Biman serves is similar to what PIA and Air India serves. Biman has own flight catering centre and service other airlines too.
Hope above would give you some idea why Biman is still a Baby with lots of experience which are outdated for the present competitive market with that kind of fleet and services.
